Saizeriya @ Liang Courts
This is a fusion between Japanese and the Italian food. Located at Liang Courts, it is one of the cheaper food one can find there. =)
i had the dori chicken baked rice. It was pretty good, but was a little too cheesey. The good thing is that it is served really really hot.
Boy boy had the squid ink spag. It was really good, i personally love it very much. I would definitely have it again the next time i go there.
Price: The mains there are really cheap for what they sell, both of our mains cost $5.85. It was super worth it. The side dishes are slighty more expensive. we had spicy drumlets at $2.85 for 3 pieces, that comes out to about $1.00 per piece. For a price of $2.85 each, you get free flow of drinks, it will be good if it is a gathering and you are going to stay there for a long time, otherwise i think their free flow of plain water would be sufficient.
Ambience: I would say for the price, the ambience is pretty good. You get your own personal space, it is not like Aston where you can hear whatever the next table is talking about. So, thumbs up for that.
Taste: Food wise, i think it is pretty good. The squid ink paste gotten both boy boy and maamii thumbs up. We are going to try the escargots the next time we go there. =)
Service: Although there are only a few service staff, the food are served pretty quick and still pipping hot. what can you expect with such prices so overall the service is pretty good. =)

Aston @ The Cathy
Yes, This is the Aston many have already know and the one with the super long queue.
Boy boy's double-up chicken
Maamii's steak
Price: Aston's pricing has always been cheaper than most western food
Ambience : To be honest, i don't feel any ambience. It is rather stressful to be eating and having the people queuing outside stare at you. So ya, dont expect to eat at a leisure pace and can seat at the place to chit chat afterwards.
Taste: I find the food above average. i do love the baked potato and the garden salad. Unfortunately, Baked potato are usually not available. My boy boy treat Aston's baked potato as an alternative to Jacks' place baked potato. The chicken are generally ok, but the streak i had was bad, it was unchewable. i had to swallow majority of the streak down. ( note to self: No more steak at Aston! ) =)

一家 Fish Porridge @ Amoy~Maxwell 傻傻分不清楚
IT IS AT MAXWELL Food Centre tee hee =p
Another overview of our lunch
The lack of any sense of direction brought us to Maxwell Food Centre instead of our intended Amoy Street Food Centre =p
My Fish porridge @ $3.00
Boy boy's Promphet soup @ $5.00
Another overview of our lunch
The view of the store ( It is deceivingly short, my poor boy boy queued for a long time for the fish soup)
Price: Decent, pretty much the same as any fish soup store
Ambiance: Non-existence ( It is a food center!) The place was pretty crowded when we reach at 12.3pm. Might be good to reach there at 1pm or later to avoid the lunch crowd. The queue for the fish store is also much much shorter.
Taste: MaaMii felt that it was above average, the fish was fresh and smooth. The soup could be further improved. Boy boy on the other hand felt that it was just average, he commented that the Bukit Timah fish store was better. (Shall go try it next time =D )

Thai food, not so express @ Ah Loy Thai (Bugis)
Thai Food!
This Thai food outlet was highly recommended by one of our freshies, decided to give it a try yesterday. There always seems to be a queue so we reckon that it should be pretty alright.
Boy Boy was disappointed.
Only the pineapple rice taste alright, the mango chicken was normal & the soup at thai express taste better.
It boils down to comparison. The thai food we had at bukit timah was way more authentic.
We paid close to $20 for the meal. Cheaper than normal thai food. =)
Conclusion: Recommended if looking for inexpensive thai food, Might want to venture to other dishes though.

Price: Decent pricing for restaurant. No GST.
Ambience: Non-existant. Crammed and noisy, tables are placed along the sidewalk! Make sure you reserved the inside seats if you don't want to suffer like we did.
Taste: Very sub-standard taste for most of the dishes we ordered. Only redeeming part was the pineapple rice.
Service: Slow.

Steamboat buffet @ 北上川 bei shang chuan
First POST!
Steamboat buffet @ Bei Shang Chuan
Price: 21++ (student) with plain water
(Dinner) 25++ (Adult) with plain water
Located at a isolated corner of vivocity (Next to Daiso),
If without the big huge sign at the escalator, we couldn't have known of its existence.
Our Hot pot (Tom yam and Sea food), both taste really bland =(
The clam thingy was horrible, full of sand and super not fresh. There was not much seafood available in the first place, the fish was alright but it was all frozen. We had to spend time waiting for it to defroze.
* They even had a 2hrs time limit. Personally, i dont like that idea at all. It is so stressful trying to eat within the time given, it is like fighting a war.
Conclusion: Not recommended.

Price: Decently priced considering its location
Ambience: Noisy and crammed with non-matching music (they actually played romantic korean love songs)
Taste: Only the fish was fairly good. The rest were below par.
